“This original piece by Renaud Herbin is a construction game played from the sides. Between heaven and earth, shapes emerge from the margins. Dancer-acrobat Jean-Baptiste André is loosed into this space, grappling with a huge door that morphs into a wall, the ground, a shelter. The frailty of his constructions pushes him beyond acro-batic virtuosity, to a point where every-thing teeters and is upended.”
For this piece I have worked with the oude player Greogry Dargent. We looked for texture with his oude, his pedals, my voice and my computer sounds. We improvise for hours until we found something that fit to Renaud’s text. Then, I got a rid of the computer to concentrate on saying and singing his words.
